The opening ceremony of the monument – a bas-relief to Chingiz Aytmatov, erected in order to perpetuate the memory of the great writer and public figure, was held on Chingiz Aytmatov Street of Yunusabad district, in Tashkent.
The event was attended by members of the delegation from Kyrgyzstan, deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, representatives of various ministries and agencies, public organizations, national cultural centers, the diplomatic corps, writers and poets, youth.
In order to execute the resolution of the President of Uzbekistan “On the wide celebration of the 90th anniversary of the great writer and public figure Chingiz Aytmatov’s birth” of April 2 this year, large-scale work is being carried out in the country. In particular, the book of memories “Chingiz Aytmatov and Uzbekistan”, a collection of the writer’s works was published.
Almost all works of the writer are published in Uzbek. His works “Jamila”, “My Poplar in a Red Headscarf”, “First Teacher”, “Mother’s Field”, “Goodbye, Gulsary!” won readers’ high recognition.
At the event, flowers were laid to the monument, and respect was given to the memory of a great person. His works, glorifying universal human values and ideas of humanism, exemplary life and social activities were noted.
On the same day, an event dedicated to the memory of Chingiz Aytmatov was held at Uzbek National Academic Drama Theater.
Advisor to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan H.Sultanov, Director of the National Human Rights Centre of the Republic of Uzbekistan A.Saidov and others spoke about the rich creative heritage of the writer, exemplary life and social activities, his enormous contribution to the development of our national literature and culture and improvement of spirituality of people.
Scientific conferences devoted to the memory of the writer, meetings with famous writers and poets in educational institutions, labor collectives and makhallas are the reflection in the image of the writer of high respect for the entire Kyrgyz people.
At the event, a documentary “Favorite Son of Two Nations” was shown, scenes based on the writer’s works, songs and dances were presented.
